Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and PREACH the gospel to every creature. Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make DISCIPLES of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. These two scriptures form the core mission of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Southern California (PCGSC), also known as the Church.

A BRIEF HISTORICAL SKETCH
HOPE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

FROM A HUMBLE BEGINNING

In 2015 the Interim Management Committee comprising of Dr. Samuel Sasu, Mrs. Beatrice Sasu, Mr. Seth Afikorah Danquah and Dr. Mark Opoku-Adusei of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Riverside, California prepared a 5-year Mission Plan with the main goal of planting churches in major cities located in the Western Region of the USA. The City of Los Angeles was the first location on the Mission Plan because it is the closest City and the Church had already identified potential members in this City. During this time there were about 10 members who were commuting from Los Angeles to church at Riverside on Sundays. These members included Mrs. Vida Addison and Family, Mr. John Adabra and Rebecca Barima and family, Ms. Joyce Brempong and Ms. Sallyanne Boye The discussion about starting a Ministry in Los Angeles began at the end of 2015. The church set up a plan to host a Mission & Evangelism event in the City in March 2016. However, God who knows best, had a different plan for this mission project. In April 2016, Rev. Ransford Awuku-Gyampoh, a Minister of the Royal Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Australia, visited the congregation at Riverside and led a three- day revival program. The news about God’s manifestation through His servant during this three days’ revival spread all over the State. After his departure the leadership of the Riverside congregation decided to bring him back again to continue the good work that the Lord has begun. He accepted invitation to visit the Church again during his Ministerial visitation to the USA from June to July 2016. The leadership decided to use his second visit as mission crusade to prepare the grounds for the establishment of Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Los Angeles. The church therefore organized a two-day Mission Crusade at the Westminster Chapel of the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 3300 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles with the theme, “Los Angeles for Christ”, from July 16-17, 2016. The two-day program was well attended by over 150 residents living in and around the City of Los Angeles. During this event Rev. Awuku-Gyampoh made an alter call for people who were ready to start the first international Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the USA, where the sermons would be held in English to accommodate other nationalities other than Ghanaians. About 20 Adults came forward and made a commitment to start the Ministry in the City of Los Angeles. Others also made verbal commitment to the leadership but didn’t step forward. Interim Management Committee of the new Church was selected and included Mr. John Adabra, Mr. Samuel Djedjro, Mr. Isaac Yiadom, Mrs Vida Addison and Ms. Margaret Akomea. The name for the church, as commissioned by Rev Awuku-Gyampoh was Presbyterian International Church (PIC) Los Angeles USA. Indeed, other nationalities joined and worshiped in the Church.
